While writing and communicating in one of the social media handles Dr. Linus Atugonza, the new boss of the Federation Of Gospel Artists In Uganda (FGAU), noted sixteen points of how the gospel arts in Uganda can positively be changed. Below are the points he outlined.

1. We must all actively and continually pray for the Ugandan Gospel Arts.

2. Gospel Artists/ministers must be willing to work in collaboration with their fellow artists. This calls for humility from all Gospel Artists and all Gospel art contributors/creatives.

3. Gospel Artists/creatives must be willing to share what they know with fellow artists/creatives. No one knows it all. There is something we can all learn from each other.

4. Gospel Artists/creatives must be willing to associate with their fellow artists. No one is an island and no one should try to create the impression that they are self-sufficient. We all need each other.

5. The different contributors in the Gospel Arts, for example; Gospel music producers, Gospel music Video producers, Gospel Music Ministers, Gospel music song writers, Christian film actors, Gospel comedians, Gospel Music DJs, Gospel Artist managers, Gospel music Studio owners, Christian media personalities, Gospel Music Promoters, Gospel music Choreographer, etc, must be willing to form associations which keep them United and working together. Members of the different associations must be willing to respect the leaders they voted by themselves and respond whenever called upon.

6. Through the leaders of the different associations, training programs need to be conducted to help improve the skills by the members that form that Association. When members doing the same thing form an association, it is easy to conduct trainings that improve them in what they do. We all need continuous training to improve ourselves.

7. The leaders of the different associations by default should be the people that form the Federation of Gospel artists of Uganda. These leaders should be able to understand the challenges that affect the people they lead in their different associations.

8. The Federation being made up of the different associations can organize trainings for the different leaders of the federating associations to improve on their leadership and managerial skills as  they lead and work with their members.

9. The members of the different associations can then be issued Identity cards that show two faces. One face being for the association a member belongs to and the other face being for the FGAU. This ID would be evidence that a person is a Gospel Artist, Gospel Promoter, Gospel Music Producer, Gospel Video Producer, Gospel Comedian, Gospel music choreographer, Gospel Artists Manager, etc. We need to be proud of the Gospel by identifying ourselves as Gospel something.

10. The moment we are organized, it becomes easier to lobby from the corporate world, the soft drinks companies, the Government, the international community, and so on.

11. The Federation needs to have leaders who are Transparent, Accountable, Responsible, Fair, and mindful of any risks that put the Gospel Art community in jeopardy/danger.

12. The Federation should be able to hold Annual General Meetings to provide its members with reports of whatever has been done and what it intends to do in the years to come.

13. The leadership of the Federation must be voted by members who hold Valid Identity Cards that show the Association they come from.

14. Members of the Federation through their respective associations should have the rights /powers to decide where they want the Federation take them. This right or power should be exercisable whenever called in the Annual General Meeting where they vote and binding resolutions are made for the best interest of the Gospel Art community and not a few individuals.

15. The CEO of the Federation would basically be the accounting officer and the head of the technical wing which implements the planned activities of the Federation through the different federating associations.

16. With the above and more strategies, we can have a strong community of Gospel Arts in Uganda. The moment we team up in our respective associations and work together, even the sky won’t be a limit. We shall make a paradigm shift in the Gospel Arts community and the World will want to learn from Uganda. If we can become focused and agree to work together in HUMILITY, we shall all be surprised by how much God will transform the Gospel arts in Uganda. There is nothing impossible with God.

May God bless the Gospel Arts Community in Uganda.
